About Julia

Managing Director (Maternity Leave)

Early childhood education is my biggest passion. I love teaching, I love watching children learn, I love creating environments and spaces for children to explore. After completing a Bachelor of Teaching and a post graduate Diploma of Advanced Studies of Early Childhood and 12 years in the industry, I also have developed a passion for continuous learning, research and educator growth.

Julia’s Achievements

Over the years I have had many opportunities to share the Handprints view with other early childhood professionals. In 2013, I had an article published by Early Childhood Australia on risk taking in early childhood. I spoke at the Early Childhood Australia conference in 2014 in relation to using video documentation to connect with families. For Townsville Univeristy, I ran a 6 hour training session in 2015 on ways to incorporate action research projects into curriculum. Furthermore, I also presented with Nikki at the Infants and Toddlers Conference 2019 on our kindness project and the ways we use a kind approach to teach children about tolerance, acceptance and the importance of their voice in the world.

Handprints was my first baby, followed fairly soon by Elliot and Hudson my twin boys, and most recently their younger brother Charlie. Being a parent and an educator has allowed me a unique insight into the balance between the needs of the working parent, and the need for high quality learning environments for every young individual we meet. Handprints centres are a special place guided by this insight, and our “wonder” based philosophy. I wonder what your journey with us will be like?
