Handprints St Ives was the first Handprints centre and opened in November 2014. It opened after many months of searching for the perfect property. It is a purpose built centre close to the local school and opposite the local sports field. Handprints St Ives was the long-awaited dream of our Managing Director Julia and where the philosophy and vision of our company began.

Handprints St Ives has since been operating at a high standard and the children, families and educators are very much at home. In June of 2015, Handprints St Ives received the highest rating by the Department of Education of Exceeding the National Quality Framework. This was a wonderful achievement and a testament to the hard work and dedication of the Handprints educators. More recently, in January 2020, St Ives once again received the highest rating of Exceeding in all seven quality standards! An outstanding achievement.
Handprints St Ives is a thirty-place centre with low numbers across each of the three classrooms and a focus on caring for every individual child. It is a beautiful place for children to begin their learning journey. The centre places a strong value on excursion and community connections. Children of all ages go on excursions and our Preschool room engage in bush school once per week, whereby they spend the whole day down at Cowan Creek reserve. The centre has a strong philosophy based around being one with nature and believe that children learn values of respect, patience and interconnectedness through their time spent exploring the natural landscapes of the local area.

Meet Alex, Our ST IVES Director:
I joined Handprints for the Grand Opening of its doors at our first centre in St. Ives on 10th November, 2014. I was employed originally as a centre float, providing opportunities for other educators to take time to program and plan for the children. I had come from managing a 155 place Out of School Hours Care and was looking for a smaller environment to be able to better understand each child and provide for their individual needs. Moving to Handprints was the most rewarding decision I have made in my career, as I have been supported from the beginning to become the best that I can be, both professionally and personally.
ALEX’S ACHIEVEMENTS
From my beginnings as a centre float, my skills and passion were identified almost immediately, and as a result I was offered the opportunity to grow with a specially created role of Operations Co-ordinator. This was quickly followed by the position of Assistant Director once the business grew with the acquisition of Handprints Killara. I provided assistance with the setting up of Handprints Killara through mentoring of their educators and assisting within the classrooms to share the vision and philosophy that was embedded at Handprints St Ives.
When we received confirmation that our third centre in Wentworth Point was approved, I was then offered the Centre Director position at Handprints St.Ives. This provided me with the opportunity to lead the innovation of Handprints St. Ives with a team of passionate and dedicated educators. At the end of 2019, Handprints St. Ives underwent Assessment & Rating by the Department of Education, where we were awarded Exceeding the National Quality Standard in every Quality Area. The leadership skills and practices I developed over this time were pivotal in preparing me for my latest venture as Operations Manager. I am now working closely with all Centre Directors, including our brand new Turramurra centre, to mentor them in the development and implementation of their own Quality Improvement Plans.
